Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Herbalist
Massage, Manual Therapy, and Bodywork techniques: Laurence is a Florida State licensed massage therapist (#MA0010746). He is a 1989 graduate of the Atlanta School of Massage, Atlanta, Georgia, where he received training in Sports Massage, Polarity, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Swedish Massage, Lymphatic Massage and Deep Tissue Therapy. He has performed massage and hands on healing on thousands of clients aging from a few months old to the mid-nineties. He has worked with a variety of acute and chronic conditions and is comfortable with challenging circumstances. He has training, certification and strong skills in Neuromuscular Therapy, Deep Tissue Therapy, Craniosacral Balancing, Onsen Technique, Muscle Energy Technique, Pregnancy Massage, and Myofascial Release and Unwinding.
East West Herbalism: Laurence entered the world of herbal healing through using herbal product lines in the late 1980s and moved into professional herbal training in 1992.He is a student of Michael and Leslie Tierra and their East West School of Herbalism. He has had hundreds of classroom hours of training as an herbalist and has had a professional practice since 1992. He has logged thousands of hours of personal experience and study in relation to herbal healing and has seen thousands of people in his role as an herbalist.
Attunement and Energy Healing: After receiving a life-changing healing Attunement in 1978, Laurence took his first class on Attunement energy healing in 1980, followed by a month long class in 1981 at the Servers Training School. He also lived in spiritual community for many years where Attunement was used as a sacred healing art. He has written three books on Attunement and energy healing.
Other healing and biographical data: Laurence's first interest in healing began to appear after reading Jess Stearn's book on Edgar Cayce in 1969. He explored parapsychology, Spiritualism and consciousness in the mid 1970s. He had first hand experience of natural living and rual skills by living in a cabin in the Appalachian mountains in Tennessee (late 1970s). After receiving a spiritual healing in 1978, he began to explore yoga, vegetarianism, Zen meditation, spirituality and practice natural healing. He moved to a spiritual community in 1981 where he lived most of the 1980s. He took his first classes in chi kung in massage school and at a local Taoist center In 1990 he lived in a macrobiotic household which intensified his interest in oriental diet and herbs. In the early 1990s he worked in a busy chiropractic clinic, where he developed strategies for a variety of health and pain conditions. In 1994 he established Healing Waters Clinic and began an herbal pharmacy. In 2000 he moved the clinic and expanded it to include a full-fledged retail herb shop.
Over the years Laurence has taught classes on Reflexology, Shiatsu and Arthritis Relief through Adult Continuing Education at the St. Johns County Technical Institute. He has also taught classes to health professionals and the public on herbs, chi kung and energy healing. He has given many public talks to groups including cancer support groups, fibromyalgia groups, weight loss groups and to philosophical and health interest groups. He has been interviewed by local and national newspapers and periodicals. He is active in researching and writing about natural healing, energy healing, and local St. Augustine history. He is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association, Florida State Massage Therapy Association, American Herbalists Guild, American Botanical Council, George Ohsawa Macrobiotic Foundation, International Emissaries Attunement Guild, and the St. Augustine Historical Society.
